Year One (April 2011 - June 2012) Strategic Actions |
The Providence Christian Academy Board and Administration will: |
| |
• Launch the Providence Tomorrow: Next Generation capital campaign (covering a 3-year period) that will provide state-of-the-art hardware and software for technology as well as create new/enhanced facilities and equipment for visual and performing arts and athletics. This campaign will fund iProv and football for a three-year period while providing the resources to enhance fine arts and develop athletic facilities on the Providence Annex site. The financial goal for this campaign is $4.5 million.
• Establish a taskforce to design a comprehensive, school-wide technology/curriculum/media plan. Initially this effort involved the leadership team under the direction of the High School Principal, Dr. Chapman. Once the board accepted the concept, Dr. Chapman and our Director of Technology, Howard Liverance, formed a taskforce of staff to plan and implement the first action which was the distribution of iPads to teachers in May 2011. Extensive training was provided during the summer and will continue in the fall in preparation for issuing iPads to students in grades 7-12 for second semester.
During the fall of 2011, this staff taskforce will be expanded to include parent and student representatives. The taskforce will examine the relevant use of technology with a system-wide examination of curriculum and media. The scope of the work will specifically examine appropriate use of technology for instruction and research well beyond the three years of this iPad implementation. Informational meetings for parents will be provided beginning in the fall of 2011 so they can support our efforts.
• Launch the inaugural year of the football program beginning with a middle school team in 2011. Our coaching staff is in place, the team conducted its first spring practice, had summer practice and strength and conditioning workouts, and is prepared to play a middle school schedule. The football program will add a junior varsity team in 2012 and a varsity team in 2013.
Note: These action steps extend over the first three years of the strategic plan including the school years of 2011, 2012, and 2013. Additional action steps that will be introduced during years two through six of the plan will be posted at a later date. |
