The Athletic Trainer’s Role:
A certified athletic trainer (ATC) is a highly educated and skilled professional specializing in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Our ATC will function as an integral
staff member of our Providence athletic department by working with our athletes, our coaches
and our parents and will focus in these areas:
  • Athletic injury prevention and risk management
  • Recognition, evaluation and assessment of injuries and illnesses
  • Immediate care of injuries
  • Treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning
Our Sport Medicine Mission:
Our fully certified and trained ATC will deliver traditional athletic training and sports medicine
services for our school athletes. Our sport medicine mission will have four primary objectives:
  • To provide easy access to sports medicine services here at school for our athletes
  • To maintain a philosophy that will encourage a high value on health, wellness and prevention
  • To help injured athletes return to their respective sport activities as soon as medically possible
  • To substantially reduce the chance of injury for our athletes
How our Providence ATC Will Help Your Athlete:
  • Will conduct an initial assessment of an athlete’s injury or illness to provide care and to determine whether they should be referred to a physical for definitive diagnosis and treatment
  • Will provide care of athletic injuries using physical therapy, techniques and medication
  • Will evaluate athlete’s readiness to play and provide participation clearance when necessary
  • Will collaborate with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries
  • Will plan and implement comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention programs
