- Every student must take at least 6 classes, with graduation requirements dictating the basic choices in each year at PCA. (The 7th class may be an elective or a study hall.)
- A Bible course must be taken every semester. (Each year students select four Bible courses, and we try to schedule two of their four requests.)
- Students interested in Honors courses must select them on their course selection form and be reviewed each year. Guidelines and deadlines are set and announced by the AP/Honors Coordinator. The coordinator, together with the current subject teacher(s), will review requests and make recommendations.
- Student Services staff visits classrooms of students in grades 8-10 to explain the course selection process and to get students started on their Course Selection Forms. Students are then instructed to review the information with their parents. The course request form with a parent signature should be returned to the Student Services Office ASAP.
- Juniors select courses for the senior year during their individual Junior Review appointments. Parents are encouraged to attend these 40 minute meetings (typically scheduled in January). In addition to choosing courses, juniors review their transcripts, confirm that graduation requirements will be met, and map out a basic college search plan.
- A parent or guardian signature is required on the Course Selection Form before classes may be scheduled.
- Any requests for changes to the course selection for the
next school year must be made by May 1st of the current school year, as faculty hiring and scheduling decisions are often made based upon the number of requests received.

* Freshmen may take a Foreign Language instead of World Geography which will allow them to take an additional elective credit. In this case, they are required to have 3 social sciences credits and 2 elective credits to graduate.
** All graduation requirements must be satisfied before a student is permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony or receive a diploma.
** A student may not take a course in summer school that is offered at Providence during the school year unless they failed the course or have special permission from the principal.
