Providence Christian Academy offers honors courses for students in grades 8-12.
These courses are designed to academically challenge students beyond the
standard curriculum. Honors courses generally cover more material at a quicker
pace, while challenging students to think and process at a deeper level. These
courses are a great preparation for advanced placement courses. In 2007-2008, over
93% of our students are enrolled in one or more honors courses.

Advanced Placement (AP)
The College Board's Advanced Placement Program enables students to pursue
college-level studies, while still in high school. Providence offers the
following AP classes, Studio Art, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English Literature,
European History, and U.S. History. Based on the individual student’s
performance on a national exam taken at the end of the course, a student can
earn credit, advanced placement, or both, for college.
More than 90 percent of the colleges and universities in the United States and
Canada, as well as colleges and universities in 20 other countries, have a
policy granting incoming students credit, placement, or both, for qualifying AP
Exam grades. The best source of specific, and up-to-date information, about an
individual institution's policy, is its catalog or Web site.
AP classes are extremely challenging. Each AP class is the equivalent to a
college course. Students can plan on much more work outside of class, than
traditional high school courses. Each student must carefully consider other
extra-curricular commitments before signing up for an AP course.

In the 2007, Providence administered 88 exams to 78 students with 86% receiving
a score of 3 or higher.
