Athletics
Providence offers multiple after-school sports camps and clinics, as well as activities and events for Elementary-aged students throughout the school year. In addition, there are nearly 10 different organized sports teams on which our young students can play. For more information, please visit the Athletics section of our Web site.

Added Experience Program (AEP)
The purpose of AEP is to offer additional extracurricular activities and/or academic exploratories for the students attending Providence Christian Academy. Staff, faculty, and friends of Providence provide two, six-week after school learning sessions in areas of their expertise and/or special interests. Sessions are offered in Fall and Winter/Spring.

Please refer to this Web page for a Course Content Guide and Registration Form when a new session of classes is announced. Classes are offered on a first come, first serve basis.

Fun in the Afternoon Enrichment Program

Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the program is to serve the school by providing quality educational, recreational and social programs for all age groups. This program will extend classroom learning, provide tutoring and academic assistance, social enrichment, and provide both creative and sports opportunities for the children.

Program Statement
The Fun in the Afternoon program for lower elementary/upper elementary school students of Providence Christian Academy is offered during the 2007-2008 school year. This program is sponsored by the Providence Christian Academy Board, but not funded in any way by Providence Christian Academy. The program is licensed through Bright From the Start, Georgia Department of Early Learning. The Fun in the Afternoon Enrichment Program is offered to all students. The program stimulates students' social, physical, and intellectual abilities through participation with their school peers.

Program Goals
  • To provide academic tutoring and coaching
  • To provide structured and safe environment for sports classes designed to enrich and prepare students for a formal sports program.
  • To provide an opportunity for free play in age appropriate centers and activities.
  • To allow the children to have supervised playground time in addition to the time allotted for recess during the regular school day.

Registration and Enrollment
Registration for 2007-2008 school year will be accepted beginning March 1. Please reserve a spot for your child as soon as possible. We have had many parents of prospective students interested in this program, for next year. The program will be limited by space and teachers – therefore we are trying to get a handle on what additional resources will be needed to serve the families in need of this program.

There will be open enrollment for all Providence Christian Academy students during the first two weeks of the school year, but space is limited, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.. Parents must complete and sign an enrollment form every year. Parents are responsible for making sure that all contact and other information is kept up-to-date. There will be a $25 enrollment fee for the program – due at the time of registration. Parents must also sign a medical release permission form with a hold harmless clause. Program Fees
Program Fees are paid on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or yearly basis, not including early release days or teachers’ work days listed on the School Calendar. Fees will be $65 per week or $18 per day (we will no longer have hourly rates). We will provide a 10% discount to multiple students from the same family (2 children weekly will be $117/week, or daily will be $32.40/day).

Fees can be paid:

Weekly on Monday $65/week

Monthly on the 1st of the Month $240/month

Quarterly at the beginning of the Quarter $600/quarter

Yearly in August $2,400/year

These rates do not include early release ($10 additional) or teachers’ workday ($20) fees.

Full day programs will be available on teacher’s workdays and some holidays as the need arises, please let Mr. Duncan know if you have a request. Full day care will be $20 (in addition to the weekly or daily rate that you pay for aftercare), extended days for early release will be $10 (in addition to the weekly or daily rate that you pay for aftercare), early drop off for late start days can be arranged upon request for $5 per day, per child. Lunch will be provided for the children on early release and teachers’ work days.

Parents must pay the fees on the Monday before the week of participation. If school is closed on Monday, payment will be due on the next available school day. Program Fees are paid by check made payable to Fun in the Afternoon. Payments must be given directly to the Program Director, Tom Duncan.

Do not send payments by your child. No receipts will be given unless you pay by cash. We are happy to provide tax receipts on a yearly basis, and monthly statements for dependant care reimbursement accounts. There will be no refunds made for students absent from the program.

Late Payments of Program Fees
Payments are due at the time of pick up on Monday or by 6:00 P.M. Failure to pay by this time will result in a $5.00 late fee payable on Tuesday by 6:00 P.M. If a child is absent from school on Monday, payment is due the first day the child returns to school. Fees are payable at a rate of $65 per week or $18 per day. Early release days and teachers’ workdays must be scheduled and paid in advance. There will be no credit given for days absent from the program. There are no other charges such as insurance charges, field trip charges or transportation charges.

Returned Check
Returned checks will result in a $25.00 fee in addition to the $5.00 late fee.

Hours and Days (days not in session)
The hours of the Fun in the Afternoon Program are Monday through Friday, beginning at end of school (2:45 pm) and ending at 6:00 p.m. The program is not operated during weekends, or holidays (i.e. Christmas Break, Spring Break and Summer Holidays). Extended care will be available for early release days and teacher workdays. When schools are closed due to inclement weather, students should be picked up immediately. Full Program Fees are paid for the entire week. There will be no credit given for days students are absent from the program.

Release of Children
Children will be released only to persons who are authorized to pick them up as indicated on the enrollment form, and the parent must escort the child from the center each day. If someone other than the authorized persons will pick up a child, prior written permission is required stating the name and telephone number of the person who will pick up the child. The authorized person will be required to show a picture ID and sign the child out on the appropriate sign-out sheet. If no one comes to pick up the child by 6:10 P.M., parents will be called. If parents cannot be reached, other authorized persons listed on the registration form will be called.

Pick Up Time/Late Fee Schedule
All children must be picked up promptly at 6:00pm. Late fees of $1.00 per minute will be added to any account where parents are not available to escort their children from program by 6:00.

Student Illness, Accidents or Injuries
If a student has a temperature of 101 degrees or higher and another symptom (such as, but not limited to, a rash, diarrhea or a sore throat) the parents will be notified immediately, the child will be excluded from contact with the other children and must be picked up from the program immediately. If the children are exposed to a communicable disease, parents will be notified in writing immediately. If a child has an adverse reaction to prescribed medication, parents will be notified immediately, and the child’s pediatrician will be notified. If necessary, the program Director will call 911 for assistance. Minor injuries will be addressed by the Program Director. If medical attention is needed, the child’s pediatrician will be called for advice. If the doctor is unavailable or believes that it is necessary, 911 will be called for assistance. If necessary, Eastside Medical Center will provide emergency medical service to injured children. Parents will be informed of all injuries through the injury report form.

Personal Articles
Students should not bring toys, trading cards, sporting equipment, money, valuable items or pets. The program will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or traded items.

Discipline Policy
Students
Positive guidance techniques are used as classroom management tools. Positive reinforcements are first choices of behavior management. If reinforcement is not effective, teachers will use distractions and redirection to try to alleviate a problem behavior. If the above techniques do not alleviate a problem behavior, we will ask your help in solving the problem. In NO instance will loud voices and/or physical punishment of any sort be used. If a student is disruptive or threatens other students in any way, it may affect his or her future participation in the program. Depending on the severity of the offense, immediate dismissal from the program is a possibility. Parents will be notified immediately of any problems with behavior.
