Providence’s Four Year Old Kindergarten program is much more than a typical Preschool
program. This program is an Academic Kindergarten designed specifically for the
four year old student. Mrs. Kathie Kimsey, is the Director and lead teacher of the
program. Her teaching career spans over fifteen years, with ten of those at Providence
in multiple early elementary grades. In addition to her years of teaching, she has
completed the state required Director Connection which certifies her in the Four
Year Old Kindergarten program.
Under her direction, with a ratio of 12:2, this program is a hands on, multi-sensory
and developmentally appropriate approach to Bible, Reading, Language, Math, Science
and Social Studies. The students have a full schedule including Music, Art, Physical
Education classes, and weekly Chapel. They take “field trips” with their teachers
over to the main campus of Providence in little red wagons escorted by Providence
Security for special events.
The program is housed in Pilgrimage Presbyterian Church in their specially designed
pre-school area. The church is located directly behind the Providence campus. The
school hours are 8:00-2:30 Monday thru Friday (drop-off can be as early as 7:30
a.m.). The kindergarten follows the Providence school calendar and dress code.
