The Selective Studies Program is designed to help students in the elementary
classroom reach their God-given potential. Supported by recent research, the
Selective Studies Program in the Elementary School is proactive in the area of
early intervention with students. For those students diagnosed with a reading
disability, a specific language arts curriculum is available in grades one
through three. This curriculum is based on the Orton-Gillingham reading method.
Selective Studies also provides semester classes for elementary students in
specific areas of the curriculum such as reading, math, language, spelling and
study skills. The goal is to integrate these students back into the classroom
as quickly as possible by teaching them strategies and skills.
The Selective Studies Program offers several levels of support so a plan can be
designed to meet the needs of a student. This plan can be adjusted as needed.
We also partner with outside professionals who come to the Providence campus to
tutor students in related areas.
